This new model generation will be available worldwide with all-electric drive and, depending on the market, also with plug-in hybrid systems, as well as efficient petrol and diesel engines incorporating 48-volt mild hybrid technology. Компания BMW сделала новый следующий большой шаг: речь идёт о новом поколении BMW 5-серии и электромобиля BMW i5 с кузовом G60. «Пятерка» всегда была очень важной с точки зрения продаж для BMW, поэтому при обновлении нужно быть предельно осторожными – не испугать традиционных клиентов и одновременно поразить новых покупателей.

Новый седан BMW 5-серии G60 имеет современный внешний вид, заостренные фары, измененный фирменный «Изгиб Хофмейстера», узкие задние фонари. А еще автомобиль стал больше: общая длина перевалила за отметку 5 метров (5060 мм), а колесная база достигает почти трех (2995 мм) – когда-то такие размеры имел BMW 7-серии.

Салон также напоминает «седьмую серию». И сейчас речь идет не о двух совмещенных и изогнутых дисплеях (12,3 и 14,9 дюйма), а об опционной полупрозрачной светящейся линии, которая проходит по всей ширине передней панели и даже заходит на двери. Также здесь могут быть размещены несколько сенсорных переключателей.

А еще интересно, что на фирменных фотографиях BMW 5-серии G60 можно заметить люк в переднем крыле – это указывает на гибрид с возможностью подзарядки. Однако такие версии появятся только в 2024 году, а свою карьеру BMW 5-серии G60 начинает с обычными 4- и 6-цилиндровыми моторами. Которые, правда, имеют 48-вольтовое приложение в виде «мягкого гибрида».

Стартовым вариантом выступает бензиновый седан BMW 520i (208 л.с.) с задним приводом и 8-ступенчатым «автоматом». Альтернативой является дизельный вариант BMW 520d (197 л.с.), также предлагаемый с «автоматом», но уже дающий выбор между задним и полным приводом.

Наконец, на некоторых рынках, автомобиль BMW 5-серии G60 будет доступен в бензиновых версиях 530i (258 л.с.) с задним/полным приводом и 540i (381 л.с.) с полным приводом.

А ещё сразу с начала продаж новинка будет доступнан в виде электромобиля BMW i5. Электрическую линейку открывает версия eDrive 40 с задним приводом и одним электромотором мощностью 250 кВт или 340 «лошадей».

Электромобиль BMW i5 снаружи не сильно отличается от седана BMW 5-серии, однако можно увидеть оригинальный передний бампер с темной вставкой, измененный задний бампер и собственный логотип на крышке багажника.

Заряжать аккумулятор ёмкостью 81-84 кВтч можно с мощностью до 205 кВт при использовании постоянного тока на быстрых зарядных станциях или с мощностью до 22 кВт при использовании переменного тока и домашнего/офисного источника питания. Аккумулятора должно хватить на пробег 455-582 км (WLTP) в зависимости от условий движения и версии электромобиля.

Уже сейчас заявлен вариант BMW i5 M60 xDrive, который является наиболее мощным и динамичным в линейке нового седана BMW 5-серии. Благодаря двум электродвигателям суммарной мощностью 601 л.с. разгон с места до 100 км/ч занимает всего за 3,8 секунды. Максимальная скорость достигает 230 км/ч.

Этот вариант также получит спортивную подвеску, уменьшенный клиренс, большие колесные диски и мощные М-тормоза, измененный задний диффузор и красные акценты в салоне.

Производство нового седана BMW 5-серии и электромобиля BMW i5 начнется уже в скором времени. Известны лишь ориентировочные европейские цены: седан BMW 5-серии – от 57 тысяч евро, электромобиль BMW i5 – от 70 тысяч евро, спорт-версия BMW i5 M60 xDrive – от 99 тысяч евро.

The BMW 5 Series has long been regarded as among the most rewarding premium executive cars you can drive, and the PHEV variants are no exception. Like the smaller 3 Series, the 530e has rear-wheel drive as standard, with its electric motor integrated into the gearbox to provide extra power when you need it. Both SE and M Sport models of the 530e are available with BMW’s XDrive four-wheel-drive system for extra grip, and the 4×4 system is standard on the 545e xDrive. The PHEVs are a fair bit heavier than the regular models using equivalent petrol engines, but this fact is only betrayed if you drive the cars back-to-back; neither quite exhibits the agile steering responses you find in the conventionally fuelled cars. However, you’d scarcely notice if you didn’t know better and the plug-in hybrids still have the same terrific balance and poise as any other 5 Series.

On paper, the 530e certainly puts down decent numbers. With the combined force of its 182bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and 94bhp electric motor, it can get from 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds, with the xDrive equipped model taking 6.2 seconds. This is slightly down on the 316bhp Mercedes E300 e.

Road tests

There’s no doubting the 530e is a quick car, but at higher speeds it doesn’t quite have the sheer urge of six-cylinder versions like the 530d diesel. For most, it’ll be plenty fast enough, while the extra boost of the electric motor is noticeable, particularly around town.

Here, you can choose Max eDrive mode, which turns the 530e into an all-electric car when there’s sufficient charge in the battery. ‘EV mode’ gives you a serene driving experience and smooth acceleration, with cruising speeds of up to 87mph possible before the petrol engine chimes in. You can also leave the 530e in the hybrid eDrive mode, saving the battery charge for use later (perhaps when you reach a city centre or your local streets) or tell the engine to charge the batteries.

545e xDrive engine

The bigger engine in the 545e brings a rewarding performance uplift, and thanks to its six-cylinder configuration, it’s fantastically smooth to boot. The transition from electric-only to combined petrol-electric acceleration is virtually seamless, and there’s no shortage of acceleration with nigh-on 400bhp waiting to be unleashed via your right foot. 0-62mph comes up in 4.6 seconds and the engine revs happily to 7,000rpm while making a pleasingly sporty rasp that enthusiastic drivers will enjoy.
