Cambridge IELTS 1-17 Book Series [PDF + Audio]

The Cambridge IELTS series has been published by Cambridge University Press since 1996. There are 17 IELTS books in a series called “Cambridge IELTS books”: Cambridge IELTS book 1-17 IELTS Academic Books with Answers. Each book contains four authentic past IELTS examination papers from Cambridge ESOL. There are answer keys included and the listening CDs.

There are four complete tests for those taking the academic part of the exam, plus extra reading and writing modules for the General Training. The books also explain the scoring system. Also helpful is that the books have the full transcripts of the listening texts.

The books also have some model answers with band scores for the writing tests (with explanations of why the writing got the score it did) for some tests. Note that the IELTS past paper books DO NOT provide methods or teaching. They are just practice materials. The Cambridge Practice Test for IELTS listed below are all the Self-study Pack versions, Student Books with Answers, and 2 Audio CDs.

IELTS Cambridge 1-17 Books PDF + Audio

Over the years, the test has changed its format slightly, so it is best to buy a book to start with the most recent format, i.e., Cambridge IELTS 9. There have been other changes in the name of the edition of the author, not to mention the split between the academic and general training materials, yet the numbering is preserved.

In addition, Cambridge IELTS Books 1-17 Academic & General Training may have some differences to the current format of the test as the speaking test has changed. The speaking tests in the books are probably the least important as you can only see the questions – it is impossible to practice by yourself, and you can easily download sample speaking tests online.
