LED indicators are among the key components of every Samsung Galaxy devices including the latest Galaxy S7 and S7 edge variants. In this post, I have elaborated each of the notification light colors you can see on your device so those who are not yet familiar with them would have an idea of what each of these colors mean when they manifest on your Galaxy device.

Generally, the LED indicator is located on the upper-left front of a Galaxy device, displaying various colors such as blue, red, and green. These three colors are used to indicate standard notifications and functions of your device.

To give you more hints, here’s what each of these colors mean:

• Blue – the blue LED either appears to be pulsing or blinking. A pulsing blue light indicator means that the device is turning on or off. A blinking blue light indicator on the other hand indicates that you have an unread notification, missed call, or messages. A blinking blue light also shows when you are voice recording on your device.

• Red – the red LED appears to be glowing or blinking. When you see a glowing red light indicator, it means that your device is connected to a charger and charging. Meanwhile, if it is a blinking red, it means that your device is connected to a charger but not charging. A blinking red indicator also appears when your device is low on battery.

• Green – just like the red LED, the green LED also appears to be glowing or blinking. When you see a glowing green light indicator, it means that your phone is connected to a charger and is completely charged. It’s a hint that it is now okay for you to disconnect your phone from the charger.

• Other colors

Aside from the standard colors, there also other color notifications that will appear blinking on your Galaxy device including white, purple or pink. These colors usually show up when you install third-party applications that include LED notifications. For example, your LED will show a blinking white for a Whatsapp notification.

In case you see other blinking colors or those colors that are not among the Samsung notification colors, it could be due to a new app that you have downloaded or installed.

Some third-party apps are designed with certain menu or settings in which you can turn off the notification within the app if you don’t want to be bothered by any other blinking or glowing light notifications while using the app.

How to turn off LED notifications on your Galaxy S7/S7 Edge

You can also turn off certain functions and notifications on your device itself. Here’s how:
1. Tap Apps.
2. Select Settings.

3. The third step will vary depending on your device. If your Galaxy device is running on Android KitKat or Marshmallow, select Display. If it is running on Android Lollipop, select Sound and Notifications.

4. Select LED indicator. You can use either the slider or tick box to turn it on or off.

Since you want the LED indicator to appear for notifications, disable the slider or tick box to turn the function off.

Note: Screens, menu options and steps may slightly vary depending on the device model and operating system (OS) version.

The red blinking light. It blinked all night long, even when not hooked up to a charger and was fully charged. I know some apps you give approval to gain access to your camera etc, so it was alarming because it hadn’t done that before. I am not a paranoid person at all, but it is uneasy to wonder what they actually do when they want to have access to things such as camera? I was unsure if that red light blinking while not connected to a charger and battery full meant a 3rd party app could be gaining access? Hope that makes sense. 🙂

Fix: Samsung Galaxy S7 screen is too sensitive

As you may already know, it’s impossible to change the screen sensitivity on the S7. The default settings are well-optimized and you shouldn’t experience any issues. However, some users reported the, after some time, their screen become overly sensitive and that made it harder for a seamless use.

Update firmware

If you’re certain that something has changed and that your screen sensitivity has drastically increased, you may want to check for updates because it’s probably the software issue. As some users advised, most of the issues emerged after the Nougat update. Since there are some newer versions that should patch up issues at hand, there’s a chance that your problem can be resolved with the timely update.

Follow the instructions to update your OS:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap System.
3. Open About device.
4. Tap Software Update.
5. If the updates are available, make sure to install them.

In case the problem persists, you can turn to some other solutions below.

Reset Apps preference

Some users reported that the problem is non-existent in the Safe mode. That leads to the obvious conclusion that the culprit for the issue is to be found within the 3rd-party apps that somehow affected the screen sensitivity. It’s not always easy to locate which app has created the unwanted changes but try to remember the first occurrence of the issue and the apps you had installed at the time.

On the other hand, the problem may lie in the built-in system interface apps that, for no apparent reason changed settings. Since there’s no way to customize the touchscreen sensitivity, it’s safe to say that the resetting of the app’s preference will resolve this issue.

Remove screen protector or casing

Screen Protectors or protective casings are a must-have for a lot of the users. If you’re not a superhero when it comes to concentration, there’s a chance that you’ll drop your phone once or twice. And those can be fatal in the worst case scenario. Since the S7 is, no matter how much protected, still a sensitive device, you’ll need a casing to keep your expensive flagship safe at all times.

However, the casing might, besides the overheating, cause the misbehavior of the touchscreen. For that purpose, we advise you to remove it and look for changes. Moreover, if you’re using a tempered glass as a screen protector, make sure that’s placed properly to avoid the sensitivity issues.

Reset to factory settings

At the end, if none of the previous steps we provided proved useful, you should turn to a factory reset. We can’t be sure what caused the oversensitivity changes on your device, so it’s advised to restore factory settings. With the clean wipe, you can be certain that whatever the software problem is at hand, it should be gone after the procedure is finished. Moreover, you can always backup your data, so nothing except the settings will be terminally lost.

Follow the instructions below and we should resolve the problem in a few easy steps:

1. Backup your data.
2. Open Settings.
3. Tap Backup & Restore.
4. Open Factory Data Reset.
5. Choose to Reset Device.
6. Tap Erase Everything.
7. Confirm selection and insert your passcode or PIN.

After the procedure is done, you should be able to move on with the seamless use just like before the screen issues started. However, if the problem is hardware-related, we advise you to take your S7 to service store. And you’ll now that it’s hardware-related if it reoccurs after the factory reset.
