Impound Lots in GTA Online are a good way to protect you from losing your precious vehicle collection as it prevents your vehicle being abandoned on a daily basis or even on an hourly count.

Cars blowing up and down the street is a common sight in GTA: Online and seasoned players have learned to insure their car ahead of time so as to not lose their precious vehicles in an impromptu deathmatch with another player.

Impound Lots are used by the police to seize your vehicle once the player has been killed by them and their personal vehicle happens to be nearby.

However, it is not just in a fight with the police that the car will be sent to the Impound Lot. If the player abandons their personal vehicle and runs far enough from it, the car will be despawned and sent to the Impound Lot for the player to collect by paying $250.

The Impound Lot is located in LSPD Auto Impound, the same location where Franklin picks up the Tow Truck for a side mission with Tonya GTA 5’s single-player campaign.

Players can pay a $250 fine to retrieve the vehicle or steal it by force. However, stealing it from the Impount Lot will result in 2-star Wanted Level.

Vehicles can be impounded as a result of them being abandoned in Freemode or being parked in a no-parking zone in the game.

Be sure to place your vehicle at a nearby safe house or a garage if you need to step out of your vehicle for an activity. Or simply, do not stray far enough from your vehicle for it to be impounded. Even though a $250 fine isn’t too heavy, it is quite annoying to keep going back to the Impound Lot for your vehicle.

Online Heists

Heists are a cooperative high challenge / high reward game mode in GTA Online.

Heists are a mode in GTA Online wherein players must work together to complete an over-arching objective over a series of set-up missions and eventually a finale mission.

One player (who initiates the heist and functions as the host) serves as the group leader, and must front an initial sum of money in order to start the heist. This money is used to procure equipment and other various items, and will be recouped at the end.

The Heist Leader will not receive payments at the end of each setup mission, but instead will take their entire cut out of a percentage of the final take from the last mission in the heist. Prior to a heist, when working on the plan, it is best to all be working from the same Heists guide. Also, some players have not been happy with the cut that the leader of their heists has given, so you must have some faith in your leader.

The other three members of the heist team will receive payouts at the end of each setup mission, and are free to come and go as they please if they want to leave a heist before the finale. Their cut of the final mission will usually be smaller than the Leaders, but this is made up for by all of the money made during the setups.

In order to initiate a heist and become a crew leader, players must be at least rank 12 in GTA Online and own a high-end apartment. Players who have completed the GTA Online tutorial and are rank 01 or higher can take part in setup and finale missions.

As of August 19, 2020, there are 7 heists available to play in GTA Online.
