Could Not Start Recording error in Intel Graphics Command Center

Some PC users are reporting having a problem with the screen recording function of the Intel Graphics Command Center. The recording function does not work and displays Could Not Start Streaming (Unknown error) or in another instance display Could Not Start Recording. This post is intended to help affected users with the most suitable solutions to resolve this issue.

When you encounter this error, the following error message is dispalyed on the error prompt;

Could Not Start Recording

Undefined Behavior. Please update your graphics driver and make sure there is no VPN/Firewall when streaming.

1. Check Intel Graphics Command Center compatibility
2. Disable VPN (if applicable)
3. Disable Firewall (if applicable)
4. Update graphics driver
5. Clean install graphics driver

Let’s take a look at the description of the process involved concerning each of the listed solutions.

1] Check Intel Graphics Command Center compatibility

• 6th Gen Intel Core platforms or newer
• Windows 10 version 1709 or higher
• Minimum Windows 10 DCH Intel® Graphics Driver version 25.20.100.6618

If your PC meets the above requirements, but the Could Not Start Recording or Could Not Start Streaming issue is unresolved, try the next solution.

2] Disable VPN (if applicable)

As indicated on the error prompt, to make sure there’s no VPN when streaming, you’ll need to disable the VPN you have running on your system.

A VPN client or a Proxy server could trigger this error due to some kind of interference that ends up blocking communications between your Windows 11/10 client machine and the Intel Graphics Command Center. In this case, you can try uninstalling your VPN software via Settings app in Windows or remove any proxy server from your computer and see if that resolves the issue.

3] Disable Firewall (if applicable)

Also as indicated on the error prompt, to make sure there’s no firewall when streaming, you’ll need to disable the firewall (especially third-party firewall/security software) you have running on your system. You can aslo make sure the Intel Graphics Command Center app is allowed through Windows Firewall. Refer to the manual for instructions for the third-party dedicated firewall.

To disable your antivirus software, locate its icon in the notification area or system tray on the taskbar (usually in the lower right corner of the desktop). Right-click the icon and choose the option to disable or exit the program.

4] Update graphics driver

This solution requires you to update the graphics driver using the Intel Driver & Support Assistant.

However, if the latest drivers are installed, you can rollback the driver or download and install an earlier version of the drivers.

5] Clean install graphics driver

To fresh/clean install a driver on Windows 11/10, do the following:

• Make sure you have the latest driver installer for the driver you will be installing.
• Right-click Start and click Apps and Features and uninstall any applications associated with the drivers that you will be reinstalling.
• Restart your machine using Start > Power > Restart.

• Delete all temporary installation files for the device driver.
• Right-click Start and click Device Manager.
• Click View and click Show hidden devices (Note: this will reveal many devices that are no longer attached to your machine, as well as devices that should not be touched. If in doubt, leave it alone).
• Find the device whose driver you are uninstalling or reinstalling.
• Right-click the device and click Uninstall.
• Check the box for Remove the driver software for this device, if the option exists.
• Click the Uninstall button.
• Uninstall any duplicates of this device, even if they are grayed out.
• Once the Device Manager has completed uninstalling the drivers, click the light-blue Scan for hardware changes icon at the top of Device Manager. The device will probably reappear. If there were multiples, only one should appear.
• Repeat the step to uninstall until you no longer see the option to Remove the driver software for this device. At this point, you have removed all installed drivers from the driver store. If Windows has a default driver, it will still reinstall that driver, but you can generally leave that driver in place as it ships with Windows.
• Restart your machine once more.
• Run the installer for the latest drivers.

Alternatively, you can use the Display Driver Uninstaller for AMD, INTEL, NVIDIA Drivers to uninstall the graphics driver.

6] Install graphic drivers from PC manufacturer

Intel recommends installing the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the Windows computer, since that driver was customized by them to work with your specific platform.

7] Update Intel Graphics Command Center

This solution requires you to update the Intel Graphics Command Center program and see if that helps. If not, you can uninstall the app (preferably, use third-party software uninstaller) via Settings app on your Windows PC, and then download and reinstall the most recent version of the app on your Windows 11/10 computer.

If updating didn’t work, try the BETA version of the Intel Graphics Command Center, as it’s known that the beta version supports this feature for screen recording.

If the issue still persists, try the next solution.

8] Contact Intel Support

If at this point nothing has worked for you, you can contact Intel Support and replicate the issue you’re having.

• Launch Intel Graphics Command Center.
• Go to Support tab >System Diagnostic.
• Next, download the Intel SSU (System Support Utility) and save the application on your computer.
• Open the SSU application.
• Check the Everything checkbox.
• Click Scan to see the system and device information. The Intel SSU defaults to the Summary View on the output screen following the scan.
• Now, click the menu where it says Summary to change to Detailed View.
• To save your scan, click Next and click Save.

Note: To attach a file, you must click the Attach option on the bottom left-hand corner of the response box.

Запустив приложение, вы можете сразу перейти к записи видео, для этого:

1. На главной странице приложения «Центр управления графикой Intel» перейдите на вкладку «Захват данных».
2. Измените необходимые настройки захвата видео, такие как разрешение, формат файла и место его сохранения (или выберите опцию «Передача потока» для трансляции на стриминговых платформах).

В целом, функция работает исправно. Возможна запись в разрешениях 720p, 1080p (FHD), 1440p, 2160p (4K), но не более, чем разрешение текущего экрана. Для первых двух разрешений доступна запись с частотой кадров 60FPS (для более высоких разрешений — 30FPS).

Приветствую друзья. Сегодня речь пойдет об одном программном компоненте Intel, который вероятно всего можно встретить после установки драйверов на встроенное графическое ядро процессора (iGPU).

Intel Graphics Command Center — что это?

Краткое описание:

Метро-приложение, доступное для загрузки магазином Microsoft Store, предназначенное для настройки встроенной графики процессора.

Это новый тип приложения исключительно для операционных систем Windows 10, пришедший на смену традиционной панели управления графической системы Интел. Все опции сохранились, интерфейс стал более удобным, понятным, стилизовано под дизайн Windows 10. При установленной утилите Intel Driver & Support Assistant — данное приложение может уведомлять о новых версиях драйверов.

Intel Graphics Command Center — это только центр настроек, не драйвера, в некотором смысле только оболочка, позволяющая настроить параметры графики. Данное явление — следствие применения нового формата драйверов DCH (Декларативные, Компонентные, Аппаратные приложения для поддержки).

Данный центр поддерживает все процессоры Core, начиная с 6-го поколения (Skylake). Присутствуют рекомендации под игры.

Можно настроить: разрешение, частота обновления, яркость, контрастность, оповещения о выходе новых версий дров.

Деинсталляция программы: откройте меню Пуск > нажмите кнопку Параметры > выберите Приложения > Приложения и возможности > выберите ПО, которое желаете деинсталлировать > кликните кнопку Удалить.
