Google Hangouts’ın bu pazara katılmasının ardından yeri biraz sarsılsa da Skype hala en popüler iletişim programları arasında yer alıyor. Hatta en popüleri dememiz sanıyoruz ki yanlış olmaz. Bu kadar tercih edilen bir programın sunduğu özellikleri tam anlamıyla bilmek kullanım açısından pek çok kolaylığı da beraberinde getirecektir. Bu düşünceyle yola çıkıp, Tamindir ekibi olarak Skype’ın mutlaka bilinmesi gereken özelliklerini bir araya topladık.
Yazımızda yer alan Skype ipuçlarını uygulayarak siz de Skype deneyiminizi bir adım ileriye taşıyabilir ve daha rahat bir kullanım elde edebilirsiniz.
1- Skype kişilerini transfer etme
Skype üzerinde bulunan kişi listenizi kolayca yedekleyebilir ve oluşturduğunuz bu yedek dosyayı daha sonra başka bir Skype hesabı üzerine aktarabilirsiniz. Böylece mail adresinizi değiştirmeye karar verirseniz aynı kişileri tekrar tekrar eklemek zorunda kalmaz ve vakitten kazanmış olursunuz.
Skype kişilerini yedeklemek için;
Kişiler > Gelişmiş > Kişileri dosyaya yedekle
Bu adımdan sonra kişileriniz yedeklenmiş olacak ve daha sonra ne zaman isterseniz yeni bir Skype hesabına aktarılabilecek imkana sahip olacaksınız.
2- En son yazdığınız mesajı düzenleme
Diyelim ki son yazdığınız mesajda herhangi bir hata var ve düzenlemeniz gerekiyor. Bunu yapmak son derece basit. Sadece son yazdığınız mesaja sağ tıklayın ve mesajı düzenle seçeneğini tıklayın.
Buradan düzenlemek istediğiniz kısmı düzeltin ve enter’a basın. Bu noktada belirtmemiz gereken bir nokta var o da düzenlenen mesajların sağ tarafından düzenlendiğini belirten bir simgenin çıkıyor olması.
3- Herhangi bir kişiye çift tıklayarak telefon araması yapma
Skype’ın sunduğu bu özellik daha hızlı telefon aramaları yapmamıza olanak sağlıyor. Bu özelliği aktif edebilmek için bir dizi adımı izlemek gerekiyor.
Araçlar > Seçenekler > Genel ayarlar > Bir kişiye çift-tıkladığımda çağrı başlat (aktif edin)
4- Hareketli kalem ikonunu kaldırma
Yazışmalarınız esnasında karşı taraf size cevap yazarken veya yazdığını silerken beliren hareketli kalem ikonu zaman zaman için rahatsız edici ve gereksiz olabiliyor. Elbette bu her iki taraf için de geçerli. Neyse ki bu özelliği kapatmak mümkün.
Araçlar > Seçenekler > Anlık Mesajlar & SMS > Gelişmiş seçenekleri göster > Yazıyor olduğumu karşı tarafa göster (seçili olmaması gerekiyor)
Özelliği kapattıktan sonra siz yazı yazarken veya yazdığınızı silerken karşı taraf bu eylemlerinizi göremeyecek.
5- Yazışma geçmişini silme ve saklama süresi belirleme
Güvenlik açısından son derece önemli olan bir detay olan yazışma geçmişini pratik bir şekilde silmek mümkün. Buna ek olarak bir de yazışma geçmişinizin saklanmasını istediğiniz süreyi seçebilir ve silme işlemini bu sayede otomatiğe alabilirsiniz.
Yazışma geçmişini silmek için;
Araçlar > Seçenekler > Anlık Mesajlar & SMS > Gelişmiş seçenekler > Geçmişi sil (zaman dilimi seçerek işlemi otomatiğe alabilirsiniz)
Özellikle birden fazla kullanıcı tarafından kullanılan bilgisayarlarda bu özelliği kullanmanızı tavsiye ediyoruz. Bir gün şifreniz ele geçirilirse veya Skype’ınızı açık unutursanız yazışmalarınızı bu sayede koruyabilirsiniz.
6- Belirli kelimelere bildirim atama
Özellikle ofis kullanımları için faydalı olacağını düşündüğümüz bu özellik sayesinde belirli kelimelere bildirim özelliği ekleyebilirsiniz. Seçeceğiniz kelimelerin bahsi geçerse size otomatik olarak bildirim gelecek ve dolayısıyla işinze yaramayan metinleri okumak için vakit kaybetmemiş olacaksınız.
Bildirim almak istediğiniz kelimeleri girmeden önce hangi kişi için bunu yapmak istiyorsanız o kişiye tıkalyarak konuşma penceresi açın. Daha sonra ise aşağıdaki adımları takip edin.
Görüşme > Bildirim Ayarları. > Sadece bu sözlükler kullanılırsa beni bilgilendir (aşağısındaki pencereye sözcükleri aralarına virgül koyarak yazın)
7- Saklı ifadeler ve gülücükler
Skype‘ta yüz ifadeleri bölümünde gözükmeyen bazı ifadeler mevcut. Dolayısıyla bunları el ile girmek gerekiyor.
Aşağıda bu ifadelerden birkaçını görebilirsiniz. Bunları Skype’ta göndermek için ilgili ifadeyi paranteziyle birlikte metin yazma penceresine yapıştırmanız yeterli.

- Talking – (talk)
- Headbang – (headbang)
- Drunk – (drunk)
- Toivo – (toivo)
- Bug – (bug)
- Broken heart – (u)
- Mail – (e) (m)
- Skype – (skype)

8- Animasyonlu ifadeleri durdurma
Bazı kullanıcılar konuşma pencerelerinde hareketli ifadeler görmek istemeyebiliyor. Bunu gerçekleştirmenin yolu ise çok pratik.
Hareketli Skype ifadelerini durdurmak için;
Araçlar > Seçenekler > Anlık Mesajlar & SMS > Anlık mesaj görünümü > Animasyonlu ifadeleri göster (seçili olmaması gerekiyor)
9- Klavye kısayolları aktif etme
Skype’ta birçok klavye kısayolu bulunmakta. Bu kısayollar bazı eylemleri uzun uzun uğraşmadan sadece birkaç klavye tuşu kombinasyonuyla tamamlamaya yarıyor ve kullanıcılara vakit kazandırıyor.
Bu kısayolların kullanılabilmesi için öncelikle aktif edilmesi gerekmekte. Eğer siz de klavye kısayollarını aktif edip kullanmak istiyorsanız şu adımları izlemeniz gerekiyor.

Bu listeden istediğiniz kısayolları seçip aktif edebilirsiniz. Aktif ettiğiniz kısayolları yanlarında belirtilen tuş kombinasyonlarını uygulayarak kullanabilirsiniz.

How To Change Your Skype Name
While you can change your username on other online platforms, Skype doesn’t allow you to change it. But, there are other options you can use to change your Skype name.
At the sign-up stage, Skype allows you to use your email address or your phone number. If you sign in with your phone number or email address instead of your Skype name, what you have is a Microsoft account, not a Skype name.

You can sign in with your Skype name and password though, which is why you need to pick one that’s easy to remember and unique to you.
Follow along to find out the options you can use instead to change your Skype name.
What Is a Skype Name?
Your Skype name or Skype ID is the username you created the first time you joined Skype, other than your phone number or email address.
Before Microsoft acquired Skype in 2011, users could create a new Skype account with a user-selected Skype name. Users who signed up for a Skype account prior to the 2011 acquisition have a non-email based username with the @name handle, which can’t be changed as well.
After the acquisition, the Skype name or handle you see takes the form of live:name, where the name is your username or the first part of the email address you use to sign into Skype.
This is because the requirements were revised so you’ll need a Microsoft account to sign up for Skype. Consequently, you can only change your Skype name by changing the email address associated with your Microsoft account and your Skype profile.
For example, if your email is spoiledsly@example.com, then your Skype name will read as live:spoiledsly, not the previous @spoiledsly format. You can use this when you want to share your Skype name with your contacts instead of disclosing your full email address.
If you use your phone number to create the account, your handle will be in the form of live:alphanumericcharacters.
This also helps when you’re searching for new users. You can either use their email address or phone number, though searching with live:username also works.
- To find your Skype name, tap or click on your profile picture.
- In the popup window, you’ll see your Skype account details such as your Skype Name, email, location and date of birth if you had entered any of these details. If you want to see more information, click or tap the three dots to the right of your profile picture.
Why Can’t I Change My Skype Name?
Your Skype username is the name of your account, which generally starts with live(username), and this cannot be changed as it’s generated based on the email you use.
The only option you have is to change your account’s display name and other details, but not your Skype name.
However, you could create a new Microsoft account to use on Skype, though this means forgoing all your contacts as it won’t sync or move your contacts and conversation history on the old Skype account.
If you choose to go that way, create an email account that you’d like to use as your Skype username, and always sign in with the login credentials of the account you want to use.
You can set up multiple accounts, but the challenge lies in ensuring you sign in correctly for each and you manage each individual account.
How To Change The Skype Display Name
If you still want to use the same Skype account, instead of creating a new one just to get the username you want, you can change your display name instead.
- To do this, launch Skype and click or tap your profile picture.
- Click or tap Skype profile in the popup window.
- Next, select Edit (displayed as a pencil icon)
- Update the display name on your Skype profile. Click or tap the check mark to save your changes. You can change the display name anytime and as many times as you want, but it takes some time to update and display on your profile.
Can I Change a Skype Name On Different Devices?
Whether you’re using Skype on Windows, Mac, Android or iOS, there’s no way of changing the Skype name, but you can change your display name on different devices though.
Windows and Mac
- To change your display name on a Windows PC or Mac, open Skype and click on your profile image or display name at the upper left side of the screen.
- Click Skype profile.
- Click the Edit button next to your display name.
- Click the check mark at the right of your display name’s text box to complete the process.
Change Skype on Mobile (Android/iPhone)
- To do this, open the Skype app on your smartphone and tap the Skype profile picture at the top.
- Next, tap your Skype display name or tap the Edit icon next to it.
- Enter the new name you want to be displayed.
- Tap Done on your smartphone’s keyboard or tap the check mark at the right side of your display name to save the changes.
- If you’re using an iPad, sign into Skype on the web and click Edit Profile. Tap the display name on the page and rename it to what you want displayed when others see your name.
Skype For Business
Microsoft Teams is now Microsoft’s professional online meeting solution instead of Skype for Business Online. It’s an integrated app that combines video conferencing, instant messaging, calling, and document collaboration.
If you’re using Skype for Business, you can’t change your username (Skype name) or your display name. This is because the user accounts are already created for you by your employer, who assigns every employee an email address for work, and a name.
To change your Skype for Business name or ID, you have to contact your boss or the relevant person in your IT department.
Change a Skype Name On The Web
- To do this, sign in to Skype on the web, and click on your name at the upper right side of the screen.
- Click My Account on the drop-down menu and go to Contact details>Edit Profile.
- Click Edit profile, type your new display name and click Save, and then click OK to confirm and save the changes.

Can I change my Skype ID?
Due to Skype’s increasing influence in the job market, many users are wondering what steps to follow to change their Skype account name and Skype ID.
How do I change my Skype account name as my current Skype name is not professional to be giving to recruiters and colleagues.
Unfortunately, we have bad news for you: Skype account usernames can’t be changed. Microsoft explains that:
Legacy (old) Skype account “names” or “nick-names” could not be changed prior to being transitioned to Microsoft accounts in September 2016, and neither can they be changed now. The only way to change how you are found on Skype is to create a new Microsoft account and a new e-mail address as part of the new account set-up process.
The solution to having a professional-looking Skype username and ID is to simply create a new one. Indeed, by creating a new user, you’ll lose all your contacts.
However, you can change your Skype display name, and we will show you how to do that in our guide.
How can I change my Skype display name?
1. Launch the Skype app on your device.
2. Click on your profile image in the upper-left corner of the window.
3. A menu will open. Under Manage, select Skype profile.
4. Click on the Pencil icon.
5. Select the section where your current display name is and type a new one in it.
6. Click on the Pencil icon again to save the changes.
Although you cannot change your Skype name, you can modify your display name. This can be done both on the web and via the PC app, in a few clicks.
You can change your Skype display name as many times as you want using this method.
