2004 – 2012

To display your serial number on the radio’s screen press and hold buttons 1 & 6 together. This will prompt the radio to go into its code cycle.

The V or M serial number will display towards the end of the cycle (for example V197905). Sometimes the serial is displayed across two screens, in this case, you will need to combine them to get the full serial number.

If the serial did not show, try holding buttons 2 & 6 together and look for a serial starting with the letter M (for example M197905).

If neither of these work you will need some radio release keys to remove the radio. Follow the instructions in the next slide to obtain the serial.

Ford 6000CD MK2 Model

2008-2012

Start by holding down pre-set buttons 1 & 6 together. Mk2 Radios will cycle through various different panels of information on-screen.

Your serial will begin with “V” followed by six digits, for example, the serial number could be ” V074652 “

1997-2003

The older Ford 6000 RDS radios have to be removed to get access to the serial number on the label. The serial number should be an M – for example, M123456.

You will need a set of release keys in order to do this, which you can buy here.

Serial Not Showing On-Screen?

It is quite simple to remove your Ford radio. You will need a set of radio release keys (PC5-132). These are inexpensive and are around £3 – £5, you can obtain them from Amazon.

How to get a 6000 CD code

All Ford 6000 CD radio units require an activation code after a power loss. Usually, this code comes on a sticker in the glove compartment or on a card between the car papers. However, over the years, this card is often lost. Even so, if you can’t find the code for your 6000 CD radio, you can retrieve it online and free of charge. Follow the steps in the section below to find the serial number, and then use this number to calculate the code. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes.

Find 6000 CD RDS EON serial number

1997 – 1998 – 1999 – 2000 – 2001 – 2002 – 2003

Remove the 6000 CD RDS EON drive using special removal keys like these: keys on eBay. After taking out the radio, check the side and top labels. Often the serial number is written above or below the barcode. The identification number of this type of unit always begins with the letter M, followed by six digits. Examples: M302011, M231111, M173110.

Find 6000 CD MK1 serial number

2004 – 2005 – 2006 – 2007 – 2008

For this model, it is often not necessary to remove the radio since it is possible to find the serial number on the screen; however, there are times when this does not work, and you must proceed to remove it.

To display the ID number on the screen, turn on the unit and wait until you see “CODE”. Next, using both hands, press buttons one and six simultaneously and hold them down until you see a change on the screen. The radio enters diagnostic mode and displays different information for 30 seconds. If your unit is one of those that shows the series, you will be able to see it in the last instance before I put “CODE” again. Because this number only comes out for a second, take a video with your mobile so that you can pause it and read the number correctly. These models have a V series number but may sometimes have an M series. Example: V938929, V899111, M838281

If you cannot locate the serial number V or M on the screen, you only have the option to remove the radio. To avoid damaging the corners of the stereo unit, use the extraction keys. You can find these keys on eBay. If you’ve already removed the radio, find the identifier on the top and side label, usually below the barcode.

Find 6000 CD MK2 serial number

2008 – 2009 – 2010 – 2011 – 2012 – 2013

Turn on your 6000 CD MK2 unit, and after “CODE” appears, press buttons 1 and 6 simultaneously, as for the previous model. Take a video of the data shown in the diagnostic mode since the number V series only appears for a second. If you cannot record a video, you can repeat this process several times until you know the correct serial number. Examples: V03920, V323901.

How to enter code

Avoid entering a radio code that does not work as you risk blocking your radio permanently.

Turn on the radio and make sure you read “CODE”.
Repeatedly press button 1 until the first digit is entered.
Repeatedly press button 2 until the second digit is entered.
Repeatedly press button 3 until the third digit is entered.
Repeatedly press button 4 until the fourth digit is entered.
Hold button 5 to confirm the code.

If the WAIT message appears, then you have entered the wrong code. You must leave the radio on for 30 minutes before you can try again.

If you enter more than ten wrong codes, the radio gets blocked with the message “BLOCKED”. Hold down button 6 to gain another three tries.

If holding down 6 does nothing or says “LOCKED 13”, then there is nothing you can do online. It would help if you visited a Ford dealership.
