Icaros allows you to use Windows Explorer thumbnails for essentially any video media format supported by FFmpeg; this includes popular file types such as Mkv, Flv, Avi, Mp4, Mov, Rmvb, M2ts, Ogm, etc.

Besides the FFmpeg-supported file types, Icaros also contains custom parsers, producing Cover Art thumbnails for Mkv, Flac, Ape, and Mpc files.

Use Icaros software to show thumbnails of video/image files of various formats in Microsoft Windows 7/8.1/10 Explorer

Icaros is a collection of lightweight, high quality, Windows Shell Extensions, which is capable of providing Windows Explorer thumbnails for essentially any video media filetype. Icaros can provide Windows Explorer thumbnails, for essentially any video media format supported by FFmpeg which includes popular filetypes such as: Mkv, Flv, Avi, Mp4, Mov, Rmvb, M2ts, Ogm etc. It is capable of thumbnailing just about any file by adding its extension(s) to the optional filetypes box and re-activating Icaros.

  • Set PRESET as “MOST KNOWN”
  • With PROPERTIES ACTIVATED you can see media file details (Length, Frame width, Frame Height, data rate, total bit rate, frame rate, etc ) in File Properties
  • Enable the CACHE by clicking on it and set it to “ENABLED (DYNAMIC)”
  • Set “Min Free Space” to 4096 MB
