SECTION 1: Small line-width Quran PDFs: A better reading experience for small screens like Mobile Phones. (7 different fonts/styles/formats)

In the course of my research I realized that the PDF files available were not suited for the small screens of mobile phones, so I tried to create a few PDFs with shorter line-widths and by using the better/legible Arabic Fonts available.

The following Quran PDFs are formatted for reading on small screens of mobile phones. The length of the text line has been kept minimum so as not to require horizontal scrolling while reading.

2. Maulana Muhammad Ali, 1876-1951 1917. Satisfyingly literal. Cogent. Clean.
3. Marmaduke William Muhammad Pickthall, 1875-1936 1930. Biblical English, shall ye wisheth.
4. Rashad Khalifa, 1935-1990 1985. Certainly there are colorful remarks about this modern translator.
5. Muhammad Sarwar 1981. Loose and innovative style. Attractively readable.
6. Mahomedali Habib, 1904-1959 (MH Shakir, pen name) 1959. Seems to be based on Muhammad Ali’s 1917 translation.
7. Moulvi Sher Ali ?-1947 1955. Clear, direct and simple style.
8. Abdullah Yusuf Ali, 1872-1953 1934. Surely a well known translation, commentary and history.

Каждая религия имеет свою священную книгу. В ней собраны те знания и заветы, которые были получены основателями той или иной религии посредством божественного откровения. Их изучение – обязанность каждого верующего. В исламе такой книгой является «Коран». У него нет на земле автора, ведь его содержание было передано пророку Мухаммеду через ангела Джибриля, а он и его сподвижники лишь записали его текст. Это издание – перевод М.-Н. О. Османова, который много лет изучал религиозные тексты и культуру Востока. Это работа высокого уровня, за которую Османов получил звание лауреата Государственной премии РФ.

Священный Коран содержит в себе все главные принципы исламского вероучения. При этом в нем можно встретить большое количество пересечений с христианской и иудейской религией. Связано это обстоятельство с тем, что Аллах неоднократно передавал свои заветы пророкам. Среди них – Муса и Иса. После того, как они устарели со временем и были искажены, Мухаммед сумел донести до верующих истинную веру.

Всего Коран состоит из 114 глав. Некоторые его суры написаны в виде настоящих трактатов, другие – это всего лишь несколько строчек. Их содержание весьма разнообразно: это и основы мусульманского права и описание некоторых событий, которые происходили в реальности и которые относятся ко времени противостояния между Меккой и Мединой. Книга имеет приложения и богато иллюстрирована. Кроме того, в ней содержатся комментарии к тексту Священного писания.
