Ink Drop/Shutterstock.com An Amazon Prime membership offers several benefits, one of which is a free Twitch Prime membership. Here’s how to link your accounts and get all the benefits of Twitch Prime for free.

What Is Twitch Prime?

Twitch Prime is a premium experience on the video-game streaming service that’s included with an Amazon Prime membership. Twitch Prime includes bonus games, exclusive in-game content, and more. For many people, the most valuable benefit of a Prime membership is the free Twitch channel subscription that comes with it. This benefit directly supports your favorite streamer. Plus, you can subscribe again (for free) every month, as long as you have an active Amazon Prime membership linked to your Twitch account.

Visit the Twitch Prime Guide FAQ page for the full list of benefits.

Link Your Twitch and Amazon Prime Accounts

To gain access to a free Twitch Prime membership, you must link your Amazon Prime account and Twitch.tv accounts. To do so, head over to Amazon Twitch Prime. Click “Sign In” in the top-right corner, and then type your Amazon Prime account login information.

After you log in to your Amazon account, click “Link Twitch Account.” You’ll then be prompted to sign in to your Twitch account. Confirm the accounts are linked, and then navigate to Twitch to get started with your Prime subscription.

How to Subscribe to a Twitch Streamer

When you choose to subscribe to a Twitch streamer via your Prime membership, you’re giving $4.99 to that person. To subscribe to a streamer, navigate to their profile, and then click “Subscribe” at the top of the page.

If this is the first time you’ve subscribed to a streamer from your Twitch Prime account, you’ll be asked if you want to use your monthly free subscription for this streamer. Click “Yes” to subscribe to that streamer for one month at no additional charge.

After you subscribe to a streamer via your Prime membership, though, you have to wait a month before you can use your free subscription again. If you want to set up a recurring subscription, click “Subscribe” again, and then select the “Continue Sub” option.

If you choose to convert your Prime subscription to a recurring subscription, you’ll be charged the monthly fee of $4.99. You have to manually subscribe to a streamer every 30 days to use your Twitch Prime subscription again.

How to View Your Current Subscriptions

You can view your subscriptions anytime on Twitch. To do so, click your profile picture in the top-right corner, and then click “Subscriptions.” The “Subscriptions” page shows all your current (and expired) subscriptions, along with the subscription benefits, expiration dates, and whether each is paid or Prime.

How to Resubscribe to a Streamer via Twitch Prime

After you subscribe to a streamer via your linked Prime account, you have to wait one month before you can resubscribe. To check your subscriptions, click your avatar in the top-right corner on Twitch, and then click “Subscriptions.” A list of your current, gifted, and expired subscriptions appears.

All of your current subscriptions will be under the “Your Subscriptions” tab. In the image below, you see a Prime membership was used to subscribe to a streamer.

You can either pay to resubscribe now or use your Twitch Prime membership to pay for another subscription to the streamer after it expires.

Subscribing is a great way to financially support your favorite Twitch streamers. And, if you subscribe via your Twitch Prime membership, you can do so without spending a dime!

Prime Gaming (formerly known as Twitch Prime) is a premium experience included with Amazon Prime and Prime Video memberships. It offers a number of perks to people who use Twitch, the company’s video game content streaming service. Here’s everything you need to know about Prime Gaming and how to use it.

Prime Gaming isn’t to be confused with Twitch Turbo, a premium subscription that offers ad-free viewing, extended broadcast storage, additional emotes, and more. It costs $8.99/month.

How to Access Prime Gaming (Formerly Twitch Prime)

Prime Gaming is automatically included with your Amazon Prime or Prime Video subscription. Obviously, you need to sign up if you haven’t already. Then, you need to link your Twitch account with your Amazon Prime account to access Prime Gaming’s features. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Go to Prime Gaming.

Twitch and Amazon only need to be linked once. As soon as it’s done, the connection works across other devices where you use Twitch such as on the Xbox One or iPhone.

How to Use Your Free Prime Gaming Channel Subscription

As a Prime Gaming member, you can subscribe every month to a Twitch Partner or Affiliate channel and get the channel-specific perks that come with it, such as chat privileges, emoticons, badges, and more. Here’s how:

  1. Open Twitch and navigate to the channel you wish to subscribe to.

Unlike paid Twitch subscriptions, the free one doesn’t automatically renew each month. Free subscriptions must be renewed manually using the same method described above.

How to Cancel A Free Prime Gaming Channel Subscription

To cancel your free Prime Gaming channel subscription, simply wait for the end of the current 30-day subscription period. After that, it expires and you’re free to sub to another Affiliate or Partner channel.

How to Switch From a Paid Subscription to Free

You can switch from a paid channel subscription to the free Prime Gaming option without breaking your streak on a channel. It requires you to cancel your current paid sub before making the change. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to the Subscriptions page on the Twitch website.

What Is a Twitch Subscription?

A Twitch subscription is a recurring payment made to individual channels on the streaming service. Beyond donations, they’re one of the most popular ways viewers support their favorite broadcasters. They give streamers a recurring source of income and they give subscribers a variety of digital rewards such as new emotes, badges, an ad-free viewing experience on the subscribed channel, and access to exclusive Twitch chatrooms.

What Is Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime is a premium paid subscription service that gives subscribers access to the company’s large library of TV shows, movies, books, and songs via their Prime Video, Prime Music, and Prime Reading programs, respectively. In addition to streaming media, Amazon Prime subscribers also gain unlimited cloud storage, free or discounted shipping on Amazon purchases, limited access to Audible, and a Prime Gaming membership.

Are Amazon Prime and Prime Gaming Different?

Prime Gaming and Amazon Prime are technically different programs, however, subscribing to one automatically unlocks a subscription to the other. One can also interpret Prime Gaming as being a part of Amazon Prime in much the same way Prime Video is. Amazon Prime is the umbrella under which all of the company’s other Prime programs operate.

How Much Money Does the Twitch Streamer Get?

The free Twitch subscription provided by Prime Gaming is only valued at $4.99, the lowest subscription tier. This subscription functions exactly the same way as it would if you paid for it out of your own pocket so the streamer receives 50 percent of the total donation fee, around $2.50, and Twitch keeps the rest.
